Rising Tide Grantee – the Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation – launches training for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and employment preparation

The Small Business and Entrepreneurship Center (SBEC) of the Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation officially launched its SME training and job preparation program on Thursday, January 19, 2023 in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The launch event – bringing together senior government officials as well as experts from well-established organizations – was an opportunity for small business owners and job seekers to gain technical skills and knowledge on formalizing small and medium-sized enterprises. 

The launch event was part of the organization’s project with Rising Tide Foundation – Powering Prosperity and Economic Freedom, which aims to create a more robust and diverse middle class in Cameroon by fostering free enterprise through an advocacy campaign with a coalition of stakeholders. This training program will result in 2,000 SMEs trained on business management and 6,000 youths and women trained in job preparedness.

The SBEC program is focused on:

• Creating jobs for youths
• Growing small businesses
• Empowering women entrepreneurs
• Expanding the network of SMEs
