Milken Institute white paper on patient needs in early detection
October 06, 2023
The Rising Tide Foundation for Clinical Cancer Research has been exploring the area of early detection of cancer to evaluate where its philanthropic support could make the biggest impact. As in all RTFCCR processes, the first step was to assess the patients’ perspective on the topic.
In FasterCures (Milken Institute), RTFCCR found the perfect partner to research patient preferences and provide insight into future cancer diagnostics and early intervention developments. Based on the success of the initial research and the strong welcome from the patient community, FasterCures expanded its work into a full report, now published on their website: https://milkeninstitute.org/report/cancer-screening-technologies-patient-preferences
This report is the result of a thorough literature investigation, interviews with key opinion leaders in the field of early detection, deep discussions with various cancer-focused organizations and a focus group discussion involving 19 people with lived experience of cancer.
The paper summaries the status and perception of early detection and screening in the US. It also highlights patient preferences and recommendations to guide key stakeholders on how to successfully identify and address patient needs when developing new cancer detection and early intervention modalities.
