Welcome new CCR Advisory Board Member –  William Dale

We proudly announce our new Advisory Board Member, Dr. William Dale, M.D., Ph.D. Dr. Dale is the vice chair for Academic Affairs for the Department of Supportive Care Medicine and the director of Center for Cancer and Aging in the National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center at City of Hope.

Dr. Dale completed his medical and graduate school training at the University of Chicago and did his residency in internal medicine and fellowship training in geriatrics at the University of Pittsburgh. He is a geriatrician and palliative medicine physician with a doctorate in health policy.

Dr. Dale has devoted his career to the care of older adults with cancer and older cancer survivors.  He founded and directs the award-winning Specialized Oncology Care and Research in Elders (SOCARE) , designated as part of the American Hospital Association’s Age-Friendly Health System, along with two other OASIS programs at City of Hope. SOCARE offers interdisciplinary, personalized care that optimizes life quality for vulnerable older adults.

He has over 250 publications on medical decision making, behavioral economics, quality of life and cancer care for older adults. He has been funded by the National Institute on Aging, National Cancer Institute, American Cancer Society, the John A. Hartford Foundation and the Foundation of Informed Medical Decision Making, among others. He is a principal investigator for a national infrastructure grant from the National Institutes of Health to create a network of investigators in cancer and ageing across the country.
