Grant Program Manager “Freedom in Practice” (m/f)

This job gives you the opportunity to contribute to the growth and flourishing of our newly defined funding area “Freedom in Practice”. In this funding area, Rising Tide Foundation is building a global portfolio that focusses on projects that:


  • develop private sector solutions to societal problems, 

  • offer solutions to the problems created by government and crony capitalist interventions. Projects that offer strategies for making such interventions unnecessary and unattractive going forward,

  • design and implement programs that enhance individuals’ capacities for self-determination, individual choice, and peaceful, voluntary cooperation in society,

  • discover methods to teach freedom in more effective ways or to new, untapped audiences.


You will provide expertise in all freedom related matters of the foundation and support for the operations and administration of our funding program, ensuring execution, adherence, and compliance to the philanthropic mission, strategy, and goals of our Foundations. While your primary responsibility is the management of a part of our “Freedom in Practice” related portfolio and grants from our former libertarian portfolio, you will also support in shaping the strategic framework and its implementation. You will take a leading role in designing and implementing a new reporting and impact framework.


  • Manage and develop grants within the “Freedom in Practice” portfolio.

  • Work in close collaboration with the Advisory Board and grant review committees to assess grant applications, perform due diligence and formulate recommendations for our Board of Directors. 

  • Ensure open communication with grantees and strategic partners. 

  • Closely monitor the progress of current and past grants. 

  • Develop a system for grant monitoring and impact management, to continuously track important data for accountability, learnings, and improvement. 

  • Contribute to strategy development, implementation, and management in partnership with other team members and the Advisory Board to ensure adherence to our Foundations’ mission.

From the ideal candidate, we require:

  • Passion for Rising Tide Foundation’s mission and the philanthropic sector in general.

  • Strong background in the libertarian or classical liberal philosophy and international network of grantees and partners.

  • Proven ability to identify, execute and evaluate transformational programs.

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in managing an impact-oriented project portfolio with a track record that shows stability within an organization and capacity to develop and nurture relationships.

  • Strong analytic and strategic-thinking skills, with demonstrated ability to create, implement and monitor complex programs.

  • Emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills necessary to build long-lasting and close relationships with multiple stakeholders.

  • Ability to and interest in appr 20% international travel, visiting grantees, and being visible in the networks supporting freedom/libertarian programs.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Advanced degree preferred.

  • Fluent command (written and spoken) of English is required, German knowledge is an advantage.​
