Patient outcomes in metastatic melanoma, the most deadly of common skin cancers, have improved dramatically with the approval of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI). Nonetheless, not all patients benefit from these therapies and actionable strategies to enhance the effectiveness of ICI are urgently needed. This study seeks to develop a deeper understanding of the role of a whole foods, plant-based, fiber-rich diet on the microbiome and anti-tumor immunity in patients receiving immunotherapy.
