The Dancer

“The Dancer” is a visual expression of movement and joy – a picture that came to me by coincidence – but which visualizes my happy moments when the disease is pushed into the background of my mind.

I have been diagnosed with breast cancer twice, my husband suffers from prostate cancer, and several family members and close friends have all been lost to cancer. So cancer is very much on my mind all the time.

I have never been educated as a painter, but I enjoy expressing myself with color and shapes on the canvas, and during the process of painting I am often surprised by how the image is able to – almost by itself – express my inner thoughts.
