July 22, 2024

The Rising Tide Foundation for Clinical Cancer Research (RTFCCR) recently participated in the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) annual meeting, which took place from May 3rd to 7th in Glasgow. This event is the key event of the professionals in the field of radiotherapy and oncology, providing a platform for the exchange of the latest research and clinical practices.

During the congress, RTFCCR was very proud to see one of their grantees Dr. Matthias Guckenberger in the prestigious position of President-Elect of ESTRO. This marks a commendable milestone, reflecting his dedication and contributions to the field.

A key moment of the conference was the presidential lecture delivered by another of RTFCCR grantees, Dr. Ajay Aggarwal, focusing on the theme “Bridging the Care Gaps.” This presentation highlighted the socioeconomical gap in cancer care and ongoing efforts and initiatives to improve cancer care accessibility and quality worldwide, an endeavor that aligns with RTFCCR’s mission.

The congress featured numerous sessions that showcased cutting-edge research, fostering an environment of learning and collaboration among attendees. RTFCCR took this opportunity to engage with its several grantees, for example Dr. Gert De Meerleer and Dr. Kato Rans, who shared insights from their studies, and to establish new connections with potential to lead to future collaborations.

Overall, the participation of RTFCCR at the ESTRO annual meeting underscores the foundation’s commitment to advancing cancer research and treatment. The exchange of knowledge and the strengthening of professional networks during the event are pivotal in driving innovation and enhancing patient care in the oncology community. RTFCCR looks forward to continuing its support for impactful research and to contributing to the global effort in cancer care improvement.
