Call for Proposals: Introducing the Venezuela Rising Fund

Following decades of institutional erosion, socialist economic policies, and authoritarian rule, the prospect of a free Venezuela is closer than at any point in recent history. Yet, greater freedom and renewed prosperity are not guaranteed and without an empowered civil society and active intellectual entrepreneurs, this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity could slip away.

That is why the Rising Tide Foundation is delighted to announce the launch of the inaugural Venezuela Rising Fund. This unprecedented USD 1.5 million initiative is dedicated to supporting projects that address the nation’s most pressing issues and help create a prosperous, free society.

Our vision is to empower innovators to start and sustain the tangible work of advancing freedom. With free elections anticipated in the coming year, it is critical that the necessary reforms, restructurings, and innovations are ready to be deployed the moment the opportunity allows.

We are looking for leading innovators, reformers, institutional entrepreneurs, and visionaries to address some of the most pressing issues Venezuela will face over the next 18 months. We are prioritizing projects that move beyond theory and into tangible practice within the following domains:

Moonshot ideas for the development of free institutions in Venezuela;
Free market reforms to generate economic growth and material well-being (think rule of law, tax reform, labor market reform, monetary policy, energy sector reform, property rights, etc.);
Work on the ground to build the next generation of freedom-lovers in Venezuela (think education initiatives, mindset shift programs, skills and workforce development, etc.);
Rebuilding of a culture of entrepreneurship in Venezuela (replacing the current government largesse with private sector solutions);
Programs working for the return and reintegration of refugees and political exiles back to Venezuela;
Reforming and rebuilding the Venezuelan primary and secondary education sectors.
