Rising Tide Statement on Venezuela Earthquakes

To the people of Venezuela, and to our grantees, partners, and friends across the country: The Rising Tide team stands with you in this moment of grief, shock, and devastation. 

The earthquakes of June 24, 2026 have brought heartbreaking loss to communities already carrying the weight of years of hardship, instability, and institutional erosion. We mourn with every family who has lost loved ones, every community now facing destruction, and every person working through fear, displacement, and uncertainty. 

In moments like this, the world often sees only the crisis. But, we also see the dignity, courage, and agency of the Venezuelan people.

We see neighbors helping neighbors. We see families protecting one another. We see community leaders, entrepreneurs, educators, communicators, and community builders stepping forward when they are needed most. We see the Venezuelan diaspora mobilizing its talent, networks, resources, and love for the country. And we see our grantees doing what they  have always done–turning conviction into action.

The road ahead will be difficult. Recovery will require more than emergency response. It will require institutions that can serve people well, communities empowered to rebuild, and leaders committed to freedom and accountability.

Rising Tide stands alongside those closest to the challenge–those who understand their communities, know what is needed, and are already doing the practical work of relief, recovery, and rebuilding. We believe that durable renewal comes when people are trusted with the agency to build, adapt, lead, and sustain solutions for themselves and their communities.

To our partners: we are proud of the work you are doing and we are honored to stand beside you. Your work matters even more at this moment. You are restoring hope where it has been shaken and building the conditions for Venezuelans to live with dignity, freedom, and self-determination.
